Endorsement Policy

This policy sets out the criteria and process by which EGHS may endorse meetings, educational activities, and related initiatives.

Section 1

General Information

EGHS is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, scientific credibility, and professional ethics, and has established clear criteria and procedures to protect the value of the EGHS name and logo when endorsing meetings, educational activities, and related initiatives. Endorsement is considered only for activities that support EGHS’s mission, advance gastroenterology and hepatology practice, education, and research, and comply with this policy. EGHS does not endorse organizations as a whole, only specific activities.

Section 2

Definition of Endorsement

Endorsement means the authorized use of the EGHS name and/or logo by a third party for a meeting, course, symposium, or educational activity formally reviewed and approved by EGHS. It signifies support for the activity’s scientific goals, and does not imply financial support, co-ownership, or CME accreditation unless specifically stated.

Section 3

Endorsement Procedure

Submit a written request at least 60 days before the activity, including:

  • a completed application form;
  • draft agenda;
  • faculty list with conflict-of-interest disclosures;
  • CME accreditation status, if applicable; and
  • a list of sponsors or co-endorsers.

EGHS reviews for compliance, and the Board makes a recommendation within 3 working days. Approved requests receive a formal Endorsement Letter.

Section 4

Requirements for Endorsed Activities

Endorsed activities must:

  • align with the EGHS mission;
  • be free from commercial bias;
  • require faculty financial disclosures;
  • present scientific, evidence-based content;
  • allow EGHS to review promotional materials; and
  • submit a post-event summary.

EGHS will not endorse activities already executed, programs inconsistent with scientific or ethical standards, or events primarily intended as commercial marketing platforms.

Section 5

Fees

A non-refundable administrative fee applies to all requests, subject to Board review.

Section 6

Terms and Conditions

Endorsement is one-time use unless separately approved for recurring activities. Material changes after endorsement must be reported and may require re-review. Endorsement can be withdrawn if standards aren’t met. EGHS assumes no legal, financial, or organizational responsibility for the endorsed activity, and does not provide CME accreditation or financial sponsorship unless explicitly stated. Misuse of the EGHS name or logo may result in revocation and possible legal action under UAE law.

Section 7

Approval Acknowledgements

Approved requestors may state “Endorsed by the Emirates Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society (EGHS)”, use the EGHS logo with written approval, and request listing on the EGHS website/calendar at EGHS’s discretion.
